Phase 2 Specification and Implementation Meeting

Mandate    -    Membership    -    Meetings    -    Minutes

Mandate: The following core tasks are addressed by this meeting which is part of the Phase 2 LHC collimation project, one of the CERN White Paper projects:
  • Review of predicted and encountered limitations of the "phase 1" LHC collimation system, taking into account experience from collimator commissioning.
  • Specification of phase 2 collimators and other collimation upgrade devices for the LHC.
  • Organization of reviews for discussion and approval of design choices.
  • Prototype testing with beam and follow-up of all implementation issues into the LHC collimation system. This includes set up of required beam test area.
  • Coordination with the ongoing LARP work on phase 2 collimators.
  • Coordination with the ColMat FP7 program after January 2009 (if approved).

This meeting is complemented by the phase 2 collimator design and prototyping meeting, driven by the TS department of CERN.

The work is also proposed for support as the ColMat Joint Research Activity inside the FP7 program of the EU .
